BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga received seven (7) awards for its anti-poverty project, Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) during the 62nd anniversary celebration of the agency held in Quezon City on February 1 of this year. Among its awards are: Most Promising Gender Mainstreaming Initiative by improving women’s leadership in membership committees; Best Peace-Promoting Projects; Best Social Marketing Product; Most Effective Conflict-Sensitive Planning and Implementation; Best in Sub-Project Implementation for MakamasangTugon; and the most coveted award, the Best in Regional Project Management Office and Team.

Butuan City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Caraga and the Local Government Unit of Butuan City will sign a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the pilot implementation of a Community-Driven Development (CDD) project through Kalahi-CIDSS. According to Regional Director Dr. Minda B. Brigoli, the impetus of this first urban CDD implementation in Caraga sprang from the successful ten-year implementation of Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) in rural communities since 2003.
