IPs’ Culture Celebrated in Caraga’s 18th Anniversary

BUTUAN CITY-Caraganons witnessed authentic rituals, dulcet indigenous songs and beautiful dances as the Caraga Region celebrated its 18th anniversary on February 22. With the theme: “Celebrating Indigenous Culture in Caraga”, representatives from the six (6) major tribes namely: Manobo, Mamanwa, Higaonon, Mandaya, Talaandig, and Banwaon joined in the various activities initiated.

After a parade, the momentous event was opened with a ‘Panawag-tawag,’ a ceremonial rite led by some tribal leaders at the Agusan del Norte Provincial Gymnasium. A mass followed after the ritual. The short program in the morning acknowledged the IPs’ participation in development efforts for the region. It was also emphasized the need to involve them more.

Deed of Donation for RDC Building Signed

BUTUAN CITY-Close to realizing its long-held dream of having a home of its own, the Caraga Regional Development Council through its chairperson Governor Sol F. Matugas with Vice-chairperson Carmencita S. Cochingco and Butuan City Mayor Jun Amante Jr.recently signed a ‘Deed of Donation’formally conveying the one thousand square meters of land for the RDC building, this city.
