Caraga Stakeholders Convene for Regional Consultation on the PDP’s Midterm Updating

BUTUAN CITY- Close to 200 stakeholders convened on April 25, 2013 for the Regional Consultation on the Philippine Development Plan (PDP) Midterm Updating and Revalidation of the Results Matrix (RM) at Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort, this city.

In her opening message, NEDA Regional Director Carmencita Cochingco on behalf of the RDC Chairperson Governor Sol F. Matugas congratulated everyone for the region’s‘improved status’ in the latest NSCB data.

Caraga out as PH’s Poorest Region

Caraga has gained headway in combating poverty and is officially no longer the country’s poorest region.

The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) released the poverty data covering the first semester of 2012 and Caraga celebrates its improved status.

While the country’s poverty incidence remain unchanged according to NSCB, the region’s poverty incidence among families significantly improved from 43 percent in 2009 to 34 percent despite an increasing per capita poverty threshold.
